GeorgiaGov Interactive is offering a series of 5, half-day workshops on content. These courses are designed as a hands-on approach for state agencies to improve their content strategy, writing (SEO, style guides, etc.) and best practices for accessibility.

To receive your Content Specialist certification, you must complete five 3-hour classes. See below for a description of each class.
Upon completion of this program, you’ll have:
- A better understanding of who you’re providing content for — including the groundwork for creating your own personas.
- Your own content strategy planner with training for SEO, editorial style guides, tone of voice (TOV) and maintaining accessible content.
- A content inventory of your agency’s website along with training on how to analyze, purge and reorganize your content from a user-first perspective.

Personas, Part 1
We take a look at some basic assumptions of who your users are. Learn how to draft personas from what you already know about your constituents. How are your assumptions right (and how can they steer you wrong?) What can analytics and data tell you about your users?
Personas, Part 2
Take a look at realistic situations based on the personas you created in the first course. Learn about empathy maps and how to apply them to the information you’re providing your constituents. We explore various persona “states” and take a look at a possible “crisis Persona” or how best to provide content for users who may be under distress.
Writing for the Web
Learn how to tailor your writing for digital content. We’ll take a look at best practices for SEO, choosing an editorial style guide that works for your agency and staying true to your tone of voice (TOV). Using your personas, learn how to best reach your audience using various channels. Find out how to make sure your copy is effective and most importantly, aligns with your goals.

Learn how to inventory everything on your site (and why you should.) This course is designed to help you become a better content manager overall. Take a look at the big picture and decide what’s working or not working. Determine how to arrange your site based on user analytics and prioritize the information people really want.
